Sheryl E. Berkowitz, Esq.
Attorney, Sheryl Berkowitz, has been involved in assisting women with their Mass Tort claims for more than two decades. She has successfully represented many women throughout the United States, enabling them to attain settlements in the Breast Implant Litigation for very serious diseases they have developed after their initial breast implantation. Those include as Lupus, Scleroderma and General Connective Tissue Disease. Additionally, she has helped many women within the Vaginal Mesh/Sling litigation along with a number of other pharmaceutical related Mass Torts including Vioxx and Avandia. She has successfully negotiated significantly higher settlements for her clients within these litigations and she attributes her success to her hands on approach. Her motto is: “Each file has a name, each name has a story, and I am the voice for that story”.
Ms. Berkowitz grew up in Brooklyn, New York. She received her B.A. from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. in 1980, and her J.D. from the Northeastern University School of Law in Boston in 1986. She is a Member of the Florida and Massachusetts Bar, and is also licensed to practice before the United States District Court for the South District of Florida, and the United States Supreme Court.
Prior to law school, Ms. Berkowitz founded Energy Resource Associates in Washington, D.C., which provided paralegal consultant services for companies developing alternative energy projects. During law school, she clerked for the Honorable Eugene P. Spellman, and Podhurst, Orseck, Parks in Miami. After law school, she worked as a Litigation Associate for several large national law firms, including McDermott, Will & Emery, and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius. After a number of years in the private sector, she returned to the public sector and served as the Associate Director of the Legal Services of Greater Miami for five years, providing free civil legal services to the indigent population of Miami-Dade County. During her legal career, Ms. Berkowitz also took several work sabbaticals overseas providing legal consultant services in Israel, relating to non-profit organizations. In South America she also provided free civil legal services to the poor and Alternative Dispute Resolution for the Courts. She also has been certified as a civil mediator in the State of Florida.
Ms. Berkowitz is a member of numerous Bar Associations and Civic Associations. Among other things, she serves on several boards including the National Trial Lawyers Association, Woman’s Rights Division Steering Committee and as an Internal Ambassador for the Jewish Women’s Renaissance Project, which leads groups of women to Israel each year.
